The Scrub of Your Life vs. Pulp Friction

Today I felt like doing a review/comparison on two products I have been using over the past weeks. I have been using The Scrub of Your Life for about 3 weeks now and Pulp Friction for only a week but I think I can make a fair review of it already. Soap & Glory are a very popular company and many people rave about their products and I'm no exception. I bought The Scrub of Your Life in early December after reading reviews about it and it seemed to be the most popular scrub in their range and I received Pulp Friction in the 'Big Spender' beauty bag (I'm sure that's what it was called) that I got for Christmas.

001: "Get fresher, smoother and softer skin with fig powder, pumice, peppermint oil, lemonade tree liquid, orange waterjuice™ and vitaminballs™ (A,C,E). Scented with our new Fruitigo™ fragrance." - After reading this on the bottle I was dying to smell it as it sounded delicious but in my opinion it smells nothing like it claims to. Don't get me wrong, it has a beautiful smell but it doesn't smell that fruity. I can only slightly, and I mean very slightly, smell a hint of orange. But nonetheless, lovely creamy smell. The texture really is a true gritty scrub that reminds me a lot of the St Ives Apricot scrub. The cream is thick and you get a lot of beads in one little blob. I have only used this on my body as I know it would be incredibly harsh on my face because it is really gritty. When I first used it I was really impressed with it as it completely removed all of the dead skin on my legs and body and left it so so smooth. As the week went on, and I know this was my mistake, I started breaking out in big lumps on my body. There weren't loads of them but I did have a few which were quite big and I knew it was down to how much I used the scrub. I used this scrub everyday when I bathed/showered and I know now it is far too harsh to use everyday on sensitive skin.

002: "It’s thick, it’s foamy, it’s fantastically fresh, it’s satisfyingly stuffed with just the right ratio of scrubbing beads. Scented with our Original Pink™ fragrance." - This statement definitely does not let the product down as it is 100% true. The product lathers really nicely into a thick foam and it has the amazing original scent which is to die for! The Scrub of Your Life is great for everyday use in my opinion as it has just the correct amount of beads to achieve silky smooth finish. My skin feels lovely and refreshed after using it and I can see why this scrub is very popular.

In comparison, I by far prefer The Scrub of Your Life as I feel it is much less abrasive on the skin and achieves pretty much the same finish as the Pulp Friction scrub (minus the sore lumps). I think it is all down to the amount of beads, as the Pulp Friction has far too many which makes it harsh for everyday use whereas Scrub of Your Life has far, far less which makes it suitable for daily use. I'm not ruling out the Pulp Friction scrub altogether as I will continue to use it but maybe only once a week and The Scrub of Your Life every other day if I feel it is needed.

I hope this has helped anyone in doubt of either products and helped your towards picking the right one for you!

Pow Wow - Lip Scrub

Aqua Mirabilis - Body Butter

Glogg - Shower Gel

Dirty Toothy Tabs - part of the Gorilla Perfume collection

Snow Fairy - Shower Gel

Many of my friends never go anywhere near Lush because of all the different smells mixed together so I hardly ever visit the shop. That's why this Christmas I'm really happy my Auntie got me this gift set! I've only ever tried a few things from Lush and my favourite by far has got to be the Snow Fairy Shower Gel. I only used it in my hair and it is my favourite shampoo! It smells divine and leaves my hair feeling so soft.

Since I only received the gift set yesterday I haven't had much time to test everything yet. However, I've tried a couple of things today. I used the Golden Wonder bath bomb today. The design of the bath bomb was really cute and Christmassy with gold glitter and a bow. When you first drop the bath bomb into the bath it begins fizzing straight away and turns the water yellow which was expected. But surprisingly after about 30 seconds as it reaches the middle of the bath bomb, the water starts to turn blue as the core obviously must have blue powder inside which I thought was really cool! I'm fascinated too easily haha! The bath bomb smelled lovely and left my body with a subtle hint of glitter all over, very pretty.

Secondly, I used the Snowglobe Christmas soap. I don't know if anyone does the same thing as me but when I receive something new, especially at Christmas, I hate using it/too much! So this morning when I was in a bath I gently rubbed the soap between my hands to get a lather and done this with each part of my body to use as little as possible. I still managed to clean myself properly and save mostly all of the soap so I was pleased! I can still smell the scent of the soap on my body right now so I am overall very happy with this particular product.

As far as the other products go, I haven't got round to them yet. They all smell delicious though especially the Glogg shower gel as it has a rich, cinnamon, Christmas scent to it. I have used another lip scrub before but can't for the life of me think what the name was and I can't check the Lush website as it unavailable. If it's any help it was the pink one and it tasted like Bubblegum...  it may have been called Bubblegum... I don't know haha! Nevertheless, I really like the particular lip scrub as it removes dead skin well and I'm sure the Pow Wow one will be the same. I do prefer the smell of the Pow Wow one as I am a big fan of lime scents so I'm looking forward to trying it out because it smells yummy.

I'm very pleased with this gift set and can't wait to try everything out! I'll post individual reviews of the products I like the most from this box. I'm also going to be reviewing a Soap & Glory gift set I got for Christmas too once I test out most/all of the products.

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas or 25th of December! I wish you all a Happy New Year too!

p.s. - All photos were taken on my phone as I am waiting on a new battery charger for my camera.

First Impressions: Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish

I recently purchased the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish after all of the hype from many different bloggers. I wanted to do a "first impressions" blog on it as I haven't been using it for that long. I've been using it for about 5 days, both day and night and so far I'm loving it! I bought the 50ml pump starter kit - £8.75 to try it out just incase I didn't like it. The kit comes with a 50ml pump (ofcourse haha), a 30ml tube of the cleanser and two muslin cloths. The cleanser has a very nice scent, one of those ~expensive~ creamy scents (don't have a better way of describing it haha) but it really is lovely. The cloths aren't too rough on the skin and they are really good for cleaning away all the oil, dirt and most importantly eye make-up!

I don't really know what type of skin I have. I thought I had oily skin as my t-zone tends to be more oily but I've been to various make-up counters and they say I don't have oily skin. In my opinion I would say I have normal/combination skin as it's not dry or overly oily but I have spots. I bought this cleanser mainly for my spots. I don't have acne as such, I just tend to break out around that time of the month so I have "hormonal acne".

In terms of my spots I haven't seen a dramatic improvement but you can't expect that from using it for just 5 days! I haven't had a break out since using it and my skin tends to react quickly so this is a good sign! In terms of blackheads and some whiteheads I have/had on my chin, the cloth and cleanser has really helped! I notice that my skin is smoother using the cloth as I only usually use my hands to wash my face.

I have high hopes for this cleanser! I would definitely recommend this to anyone that has spots/oily skin or just looking for a lovely cleanser. I will update in the future and let you know how I get on with the cleanse and polish.
